About
Riley Soriano
Riley Soriano is a lighting designer and lighting programmer for film and live events based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He partners with a select group of productions and creative teams to craft memorable visual experiences through light.
@livingwith_rileyA lot of my work starts with the same question: how do you make a system feel reliable without sanding off the parts that make it human? On set, that means calm lighting control, fast adjustments, and support for gaffers and electric crews. In my photo work, it means letting plastic Holga cameras, soft focus, vignetting, and film accidents stay visible.
Lighting control
I work through Who Turned Off The Lights? LLC as an LCP and EOS-based Lighting Console Programmer for commercial lighting, ad campaigns, media days, pre-light, and on-set support.
Film production since 2024 · Lighting control programming since 2021.
Live event work since 2016 · IATSE Local 16 member.
Full programming rig available for production support or dry weekly rental.

My film work is made mostly with Holga plastic cameras: a Holga 120 GCFN and a Holga 135 FC. I use them for their limits: blur, light leaks, vignetting, uneven frames, and the feeling that the camera is always slightly misbehaving.
Selected monthly study images become made-to-order limited print editions produced at Photoworks SF.
Creative systems
I also build small software, archive, portfolio, and storefront systems for creative projects. The through-line is structure: making the work easier to organize, present, sell, and return to.
